The bathroom was ordinary and dated. He never used the tub and wanted a shower instead. Situated in a Port Liberte, NJ waterfront condo with concrete floors and ceilings, there was little ability to move plumbing fixtures around.
The total scope of the project included 2 bathrooms in the condo. Needing to have one working bathroom available for the couple during the renovation, we tackled his bathroom first. The tub was removed and a curbless walk-in shower was installed. A compact wall-mount floating vanity and a space saving wall-mount toilet increased the sense of space in this compact 38 square foot bath.
The black and white color scheme and materials energize the small space: black river rock floor throughout, hi-gloss white vanity with white glass integrated countertop/sink, white 4x16 vertical wall tile, horizontal baby strips of black and white marble on the accent wall. The long LED lit mirror also stands in as a night light. Storage is provided by the recessed medicine cabinet to the left of the vanity and recessed niches in the shower. The frameless shower glass is barely visible. A pocket door saves space.
