2020 ASID NJ Bronze Award for Design Excellence - Residential Condo
A large renovation project combined two apartments on the 6th floor of an elevator building. The smaller of the two units was designated as the couple’s private space and had a boring beige bathroom. The clients wanted to plan ahead for a stylish bath with a walk-in shower that would allow them to age in place.
"Aging in place" and "universal design" are approaches that are gaining popularity as more homeowners prefer to remain at home and not move to senior living facilities. These design principles are actually helpful to any person regardless of age or ability, providing safety, convenience and functionality for all users at any stage of life.
